  • Outdoor twilight switch | with built-in photocell | 16 A | 24–264 V AC | 1NO | Elsp Group | ES-TS01

    Code: ES-TS01

Outdoor twilight switch with built-in photocell: 1NO 16 A AC1, wide 24–264 V AC supply range, sealed white housing.

  • Twilight switch with built-in photocell | 16 A | 24–264 V AC | ES-TS01

ES-TS01 is an outdoor twilight switch with the photocell built into the housing. It switches lighting on at dusk and off at dawn. No separate sensor or sensor cable is needed: the relay is installed outdoors where it can see daylight. Suitable for street, yard, driveway and site lighting.

    Key point:
The relay is supplied from a wide 24–264 V AC range, so it suits both the standard 230 V mains and 24 V AC control circuits. The 16 A AC1 contact can switch a small group of luminaires directly or send a signal to a contactor coil when the load is larger.
    Supply
    24–264 V AC, 50/60 Hz
    Output
    1NO, 16 A AC1
    Sensor
    built-in photocell
    Housing
    sealed, white
    Control
    directly or via a contactor

    Operating principle

The photocell in the housing continuously measures ambient light. At dusk the relay closes the NO contact and switches the lighting on; at dawn it opens the contact.

The relay has one normally open (1NO) contact. It can supply luminaires directly or control a modular contactor coil in the panel – the large load is then switched by the contactor.

As the sensor sits in the relay housing, the mounting location is what matters most: the relay must see natural daylight but must not be lit by the luminaires it controls.

    Why 24–264 V AC?
The wide supply range lets the same relay work on a 230 V AC lighting line and in a 24 V AC control circuit, for example when the panel has a control transformer. There is no need to look for a separate version for each voltage.

    Main functions

    • Automatic switch-on at dusk – lighting is on only during darkness.
    • Built-in photocell – no separate sensor or sensor cable needed.
    • Wide 24–264 V AC supply – one relay for 230 V and 24 V AC circuits.
    • 1NO 16 A AC1 contact – switches luminaires directly or controls a contactor.
    • Sealed housing – designed for outdoor mounting.

How does it differ from similar models?

    • ES-G02 – Wall-mounted photo relay with built-in sensor: 10 A, 220–240 V AC, adjustable thresholds 10–250 lx, IP44.
    • F&F AWZ – Wall-mounted relay with built-in IP65 sensor, 16 A and adjustable 2–1000 lx threshold.
    • 65593 – 25 A output and 10–100 lx threshold – when a larger load is switched directly.
    • VEXEN TWR1 – Modular DIN rail relay with external IP65 sensor and 1–100 lx knob – when the relay must sit in the panel and only the sensor outside.

    Where is it used?

    • Street and driveway lighting
    • Yard, path and car park luminaires
    • Facade and building outline lighting
    • Floodlights at warehouses, farms and industrial sites
    • Control of lighting groups via a contactor in the panel
    • Lighting systems with a 24 V AC control circuit

    Use by need

    For the electrician.
One relay for 24 to 264 V AC, sensor already in the housing – fewer wires and less installation work.
For the home or farmstead owner.
Yard and driveway lighting switches on at dusk without adjusting a timer, and is not wasted during the day.
For the company or farm manager.
Site lighting follows real light, while large floodlight groups are switched via a contactor.

    Practical use

If you need to automate yard lighting with several LED floodlights, install ES-TS01 on the north side of the building where the floodlights' own light does not reach it. Use the NO contact to control a modular contactor coil in the panel and connect the floodlight group through the contactor. The relay contact is then not stressed by LED inrush currents, and the lighting comes on at dusk all year round.

    Pros

    • Built-in photocell – no separate sensor needed
    • Wide supply range 24–264 V AC, 50/60 Hz
    • 1NO 16 A AC1 contact
    • Sealed housing for outdoor mounting
    • Controls luminaires directly or via a contactor

    Cons / limitations

    • 16 A is rated for AC1 (resistive) load – for LED drivers and floodlights with high inrush current use a modular contactor
    • The light threshold (lx) is not specified – if you need an adjustable threshold, choose ES-G02 or F&F AWZ
    • No timer for switching off at night

    ⚠ Safety and installation notes

    • Mount the relay where daylight reaches the photocell but the controlled luminaires do not – otherwise the relay will start switching itself off.
    • Do not point the photocell into direct sun or towards the road where car headlights hit it.
    • The relay is installed outdoors – make the wire connections watertight so that moisture does not enter the housing.
    • For larger loads the relay must control a contactor coil, not the luminaire group directly.
    • The supply voltage must stay within 24–264 V AC; protect the circuit with a suitable circuit breaker.
    • Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician after disconnecting and verifying the absence of voltage.

    Quick selection guide

    24–264 V AC
    16 A AC1
    1NO
    Built-in photocell
    Suitable when you need to:
    • switch outdoor lighting on automatically at dusk;
    • have a relay with the sensor in the housing, without a separate sensor cable;
    • control a contactor by light level in a 230 V or 24 V AC circuit.
    Check before use:
    • load type and inrush current (LED – via a contactor);
    • the mounting location – the relay must see daylight but not its own luminaires;
    • the control circuit voltage (24–264 V AC).
Important reminder: a twilight switch controls lighting by light level, but it does not replace protective devices and does not switch lighting off in the middle of the night – that requires a relay with a timer.

    FAQ

Is a separate light sensor needed?
No, the photocell is built into the relay housing.
Where should the relay be mounted?
Outdoors, on the north side of the building, where daylight reaches it but not the controlled luminaires or car headlights.
Can LED floodlights be connected directly?
A small load – yes, but for larger LED groups use a modular contactor because of inrush current.
Is the relay suitable for a 24 V AC circuit?
Yes, the supply voltage is 24–264 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
How to control a large lighting group?
Use the NO contact to control a modular contactor coil and connect the luminaires through the contactor's power contacts.
