  • Cable gland with nut and seal | PG7 | for cable Ø3.5–6 mm | grey | IP67 | PG-07

    Code: PG-07

Grey polyamide cable gland with a PG7 thread and a compression nut. It seals one round cable with an outer diameter of 3.5–6 mm – thin control and signal cables (sensors, thermostats, push-buttons). Protection IP67 (EN 60529), operating temperature −40…+85 °C.

  • Cable gland with nut and seal | PG7 | for cable Ø3.5–6 mm | grey | IP67 | PG-07

PG-07 is a grey PG7 cable gland made of polyamide. It is screwed into a threaded PG7 opening or inserted into a plain Ø 12.5 mm hole and secured from inside with a lock nut. When the nut is tightened, the seal wraps around the cable sheath and closes the gap between cable and enclosure.

    Key point:
PG7 is the smallest size in this series, intended for points where a thin control or signal cable enters a box or device. An oversized gland cannot grip such a cable, so the Ø3.5–6 mm range keeps IP67 even with a thin sheath. The grey colour matches grey plastic junction boxes and small panels, so the entry does not stand out.

    How it works

Installation. With the power off, prepare a PG7 threaded or Ø 12.5 mm opening in the enclosure, screw in and tighten the gland, then pass the cable through the loosened nut.

Operation. Turning the nut compresses the seal around the cable – it presses evenly onto the Ø3.5–6 mm sheath and also holds the cable against pull-out.

Result. A tight IP67 entry: dust stays out, and temporary immersion (EN 60529 test – up to 1 m depth, 30 min) does not break the seal.

    What makes PG-07 useful?
It lets you seal a thin cable into a small housing: the PG7 thread outer diameter is only 12.5 mm, so it fits on the narrow wall of a sensor box or a small control station.

    Main functions

    • IP67 sealing – protection against dust and temporary immersion.
    • Cable retention – the tightened nut reduces pull on the terminals.
    • PG7 thread – fits standard PG7 openings, thread outer diameter 12.5 mm.
    • Range Ø3.5–6 mm – thin control and signal cables (sensors, thermostats, push-buttons).
    • Polyamide body – does not corrode, non-conductive, works at −40…+85 °C.
    • Grey colour – does not stand out on grey boxes and small panels.

    Where is it used?

    • Temperature, pressure and level sensor housings
    • Small control stations with push-buttons and pilot lights
    • Connection boxes for thermostats and protective sensors
    • Outdoor and damp-room installations where IP67 is required
    • Equipment housings where the cable enters through the wall
    • Repairs where an old, cracked cable entry is replaced
    • Grey plastic junction boxes and small panels

    Use by need

    For the automation installer.
Sensor and push-button cables are usually thin – PG7 with its Ø3.5–6 mm range grips them without extra sleeves.
    For the designer.
In the specification it is enough to state PG7, cable Ø3.5–6 mm and IP67 – the parameters are clear, and the IP68 alternative 00810 (PG7, Ø3–6.5 mm) has the same thread.
    For the facility manager.
A grey entry on a grey box looks tidy, and IP67 reduces the risk of moisture-related faults in basements and outdoors.

    Practical use

If you are mounting a level-sensor box outdoors at a pumping station and a signal cable of about 5 mm diameter enters it, PG7 is the right size: screw the gland into the box opening, pass the cable through, tighten the nut until the cable no longer moves – and the box is protected against rain and splashes.

    Pros

    • Defined range Ø3.5–6 mm for one PG7 size
    • IP67 according to EN 60529
    • Operating temperature −40…+85 °C – suitable for unheated rooms and outdoor equipment
    • Polyamide – rust-free and non-conductive
    • The tightened nut both seals and holds the cable
    • Grey colour – the entry does not stand out on grey housings

    Cons / limitations

    • IP67, not IP68 – for permanent immersion choose IP68 00810 (PG7, Ø3–6.5 mm) or ES-PG7.
    • Limited range: for a cable thinner than 3.5 mm choose IP68 00810 (PG7, Ø3–6.5 mm); for one thicker than 6 mm – PG-09 / PG-09B (PG9, Ø4–8 mm).
    • One gland – one round cable; not for flat cables or several wires.
    • Not a fire barrier – it does not replace fire-rated cable penetrations.

    Safety and installation notes

    • Work in a panel or box only with the power disconnected and the absence of voltage verified.
    • After drilling, remove all swarf from the enclosure – it can cause a short circuit.
    • Drill the hole to the thread outer diameter of 12.5 mm – in an oversized hole the seal is not guaranteed.
    • Tighten the nut until the cable no longer moves in the seal; overtightening can damage the plastic thread.
    • Route the cable from below or with a drip loop so water does not run along it to the gland.

    Quick selection guide

    PG7 thread (Ø 12.5 mm)
    Cable Ø3.5–6 mm
    IP67, −40…+85 °C
    Grey, polyamide
    Suitable when you need:
    • to seal a thin signal or control cable (Ø3.5–6 mm)
    • for the entry to match a grey box or panel
    • to protect the entry against rain, dust and splashes
    Check before use:
    • The cable outer diameter with a caliper – it must be 3.5–6 mm.
    • The opening type: threaded PG7 or plain Ø 12.5 mm hole (then a lock nut is needed).
    • Whether the entry will be in direct sunlight – UV resistance is not stated in our data.
Important reminder: The gland seals and holds one cable, but it is not a fire barrier and does not replace an IP68 gland where the entry is permanently under water.

    FAQ

What cable size does PG-07 fit?
A cable with an outer diameter of 3.5–6 mm – measure the sheath, not the conductor cross-section in mm².
Is PG7 suitable for a 3×1.5 mm² power cable?
Usually not – the outer diameter of such a cable is typically above 6 mm, so check the dimension and choose PG-09 / PG-09B if needed.
Is PG-07 suitable for permanent operation under water?
No – IP67 is for temporary immersion; for permanent immersion choose IP68 00810 (PG7, Ø3–6.5 mm).
What hole size should I drill for PG7 without a thread?
The hole should match the PG7 thread outer diameter – 12.5 mm; the gland is then secured from inside with a lock nut.
How does PG-07 differ from PG-07B?
Only in colour: PG-07 is grey, PG-07B is black; thread, range, IP67 and operating temperature are the same.
Can two wires be passed through one gland?
No – the seal only closes around one round cable; use a separate gland for each cable.
