During switching, both the L and N conductors are disconnected, ensuring electrical isolation between the power sources. The device features automatic and manual control, source priority setting, voltage, overcurrent and overtemperature protection, adjustable delay times, and COM / NO / NC dry contacts for integration with PLC, BMS or generator controllers.

3-source automatic transfer switch ATS | 2P | 100A | 3x230V AC | L+N double disconnection | feedback contacts
Automatic 3-source transfer switch ATS designed for systems using up to 3 independent single-phase 230V AC power sources. The device monitors the status of the connected sources and automatically transfers the load to another suitable power source when the priority input voltage is lost or moves outside the set limits.
Each power source uses a 2P configuration with double disconnection of L and N. During transfer, both the phase conductor L and the neutral conductor N are disconnected, providing electrical separation between the individual power sources.
The device includes overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent and overheating protection, automatic and manual source selection, adjustable delays, source priority settings, audible indication and passive COM / NO / NC feedback contacts.
3 independent 230V AC power inputsThe rated input system is AC 3x230V, 50/60Hz. This means three separate 230V AC power sources, for example the mains supply, a generator and an inverter. Only one selected source supplies the load at a time.
3 inputsPower sources2PL + N switching100ARated current3x230V AC50/60HzOperating principle
The ATS continuously monitors the voltage of all three power sources and selects the appropriate source according to the configured priority. If the active priority input becomes unsuitable, the switch disconnects it after the set delay and connects another suitable source.
Situation ATS operation L1 operates normally The load is supplied from L1 if this is the selected priority source. L1 is lost or its voltage is unsuitable After the set delay, the ATS may transfer the load to L2. L2 is also unsuitable If the parameters of L3 are suitable, the load may be transferred to L3. L1 recovers After the set recovery / transfer delay, the ATS may automatically return the load to the priority L1 source. Manual mode The operator can manually select the required power source. 3-source priority
Typical sequence: L1 → L2 → L3For example, L1 may be the main power grid, L2 a generator and L3 an inverter or another backup power source. Priority can be selected according to the control logic of the specific system.
2P – L and N double disconnection
Each source uses 2-pole switching. This means that when changing the power source, both active conductors are switched:
- L – phase conductor
- N – neutral conductor
L & N double cut-offWhen switching between sources, both the phase and neutral conductors are disconnected. This helps prevent an electrical connection through the neutral conductor between separate independent power sources.
PE conductor is not switched2P L+N switching means switching the phase and neutral conductors. The protective PE conductor is not part of the switching function. Generators, inverters and other sources must be connected according to the appropriate N and PE arrangement for the specific system.
Integrated protection functions
Protection Purpose Overvoltage protection Prevents use of a source when its voltage exceeds the set limit. Undervoltage protection Prevents the load from being supplied from a source whose voltage has fallen below the set limit. Overcurrent protection Monitors load current and reacts when the set limit is exceeded. Overheating protection Monitors device temperature and reacts to abnormal thermal conditions. Voltage monitoring is not SPD protectionThe ATS overvoltage function monitors longer-duration increases in mains voltage. It does not replace a separate surge protective device (SPD) designed for lightning-induced or short-duration transient overvoltages.
Display and indication
The integrated display allows monitoring of the voltage of all 3 power inputs and the load output current. Additional indicators provide information about faults, overcurrent, temperature status, timer, power supply and audible alarm status.
Automatic and manual switching
The device supports automatic and manual power source selection. In automatic mode the sources are monitored continuously, while in manual mode the operator can select a specific input.
Adjustable parameters
Overvoltage setting range 120–300V Undervoltage setting range 80–210V Overcurrent setting range 1–100A Overcurrent trip delay 0.1–30s Power-on delay 1–999s Transfer delay 1–999s Passive feedback contacts
COM / NO / NC dry contactsThe feedback contacts are passive and do not provide 12V, 24V or 230V power themselves. They can be used to transmit status signals to a PLC, alarm system, generator controller, BMS or other automation equipment.
Generator operation
One of the three power sources may be a generator. In a typical system, the ATS detects failure of the main power supply, sends a control signal to the generator controller and, once the generator reaches suitable parameters, transfers the load to generator power.
ATS is not a UPSWhen transferring from one power source to another, there is normally a certain switching interruption. Therefore, an ATS should not be described as a completely uninterrupted power supply device.
ATS is not a source synchronisation device
The switch is designed to select one of three power sources. It is not intended to synchronise the phases of different AC sources or connect the sources in parallel.

Disadvantages / limitations
- 3x230V does not mean a 3x400V three-phase system: it means three separate 230V AC power inputs.
- Up to 100A: cable cross-section and protection must be selected according to the actual circuit load.
- ATS is not a UPS: a short power interruption may occur during transfer.
- Dry contacts do not supply power: the signalling circuit requires an external power supply.
- Not intended for parallel operation or synchronisation of power sources.
- Integrated voltage monitoring does not replace an SPD.

- Industrial automation
- PLC / BMS / EMS integration
- Pump stations and technical rooms
- Agricultural and commercial facilities
Not suitable for
- Standard 3x400V three-phase ATS systems

Practical application example
A facility has three independent 230V AC power sources: L1 – mains supply, L2 – generator, L3 – inverter. Under normal conditions, the load is supplied from L1. If L1 is lost or its voltage becomes unsuitable, the ATS transfers both the L and N conductors to L2 after the set delay. If L2 is also unsuitable, the system may select L3. When the priority L1 source recovers, the ATS may automatically return the load to L1 after the set delay.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How many power sources can be connected?Up to 3 independent single-phase 230V AC power sources.
What does AC 3x230V mean?It means three separate 230V AC power inputs. It is not a standard 3x400V three-phase power system.
What does 2P mean? The switch simultaneously transfers two conductors – phase L and neutral N.
Is the neutral conductor also disconnected?Yes. Double disconnection of L and N is used.
Can a generator be connected?Yes. One of the three 230V AC sources may be a generator, provided its electrical parameters meet the requirements of the system.
Can an inverter be used?Yes, provided the inverter AC output is compatible with the 230V AC system.
Can a priority source be selected?Yes. The ATS supports power source priority selection.
What is the rated current?100A.
Is this an uninterruptible power supply device? No. The ATS automatically transfers between power sources, but a short power interruption may occur during switching.
Can the dry contacts be connected to a PLC?Yes. COM / NO / NC contacts can be used as logic signals for a PLC or other automation equipment.
Important electrical safety and design noteThe 100A ATS must be installed according to the design of the specific electrical installation. Cable cross-section, short-circuit protection, circuit breaker or fuse characteristics, N and PE conductor arrangement, generator and inverter control logic and overall system selectivity must be evaluated. 2P switching disconnects L and N but does not switch PE. Different AC power sources must not be incorrectly connected in parallel.
3-source automatic transfer switch ATS – 2P, 100A automatic backup power transfer switch for three independent 230V AC sources. Rated input system – AC 3x230V, 50/60Hz. L and N are both disconnected during transfer. The device provides automatic and manual control, source priority selection, overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent and overheating protection, adjustable delays, display of 3 input voltages and output current, and passive COM / NO / NC feedback contacts.
