Automatic phase switch ATS 5-in-1 150A – a multifunctional device designed for automatic switching of a single-phase load between L1, L2 and L3 phases. The device monitors the voltage of all three phases, allows selection of a priority phase, and features adjustable 1–150A overcurrent protection, overvoltage and undervoltage protection, temperature protection, energy metering and an ON/OFF timer. The colour display shows voltage, current, frequency, temperature and kWh data. Designed for mounting on a 35mm DIN rail. Important: this is not a 3P/4P ATS for three-phase loads – the output is single-phase L+N.

  • Automatic phase selector ATS 5-in-1 | 3P+N input | 150A | 3x230V AC

5-in-1 automatic phase selector ATS with protection and energy metering functions is designed for a three-phase four-wire N, L1, L2, L3 input and for supplying a single-phase load from one selected phase. The device continuously monitors the voltage of all three phases and automatically selects a suitable phase according to the configured priority.

The device provides adjustable overcurrent protection up to 150A, overvoltage and undervoltage monitoring, temperature protection, energy metering, programmable energy limit, ON/OFF timer, frequency, current and voltage display, and automatic power restoration after a fault has been cleared.

Important: this is not a 3P switch for a three-phase load

Although the input is 3P+N – N, L1, L2 and L3, the device is designed to select one phase out of three and supply it to a single-phase L + N output. It does not supply a three-phase load with all three phases simultaneously.

What is this device designed for?

The main function of the device is to automatically select a suitable phase for a single-phase load. If the priority L1 phase disappears or its voltage becomes unsuitable, the device can switch the load to phase L2 or L3.

    Typical operating sequence

L1 normal → load supplied from L1. L1 unsuitable → L2 is checked. L2 suitable → load is switched to L2. If L2 is also unsuitable → L3 is checked.

    Input and output

    Terminals Purpose
    N Common neutral input conductor.
    L1 First / priority phase.
    L2 Second backup phase.
    L3 Third backup phase.
Output L + N Single-phase load supply from the currently selected phase.

    Automatic priority phase selection

The device supports a priority phase function. Normally one phase is selected as the main phase and the others are used as backup phases. When the main phase becomes suitable again, the device can automatically return the load to the priority phase after the configured recovery delay.

    Status Operation
Priority phase is suitable The load is supplied from the priority phase.
Overvoltage The unsuitable phase is disconnected and another suitable phase is searched for.
Undervoltage The load can be switched to another suitable phase.
Phase recovers After the configured recovery time, automatic return to the priority phase is possible.

    5-in-1 functions

    Function Purpose
    1. Automatic phase switching Selects a suitable L1, L2 or L3 phase and can return to the priority phase.
    2. Voltage and current protection Overvoltage, undervoltage and overcurrent monitoring.
    3. Energy metering Displays consumed energy in kWh and allows energy-use limits to be configured.
    4. Temperature monitoring Responds when the configured temperature limit is exceeded.
    5. ON/OFF timer Allows programming of load switch-on and switch-off times.

    Voltage protection

The voltage of each phase is monitored independently. The device can automatically reject a phase whose voltage is above or below the configured limits.

    120–300V
    Overvoltage threshold
    80–210V
    Undervoltage threshold
    0.1s
    Voltage protection trip time
    5V
    Hysteresis
This is not an SPD surge protection device

The voltage protection responds to the mains voltage level and does not replace an SPD designed to limit lightning-induced or short-duration transient overvoltages.

    Overcurrent protection up to 150A

The overcurrent protection threshold can be adjusted from 1A to 150A. The trip delay is adjustable from 0.1 to 30 seconds, allowing the protection to be adapted to the specific load.

    150A high-current version

The device is designed for circuits requiring current monitoring up to 150A. The actual permissible load must be coordinated with the cable cross-section, connection method, upstream protective circuit breaker and electrical installation design.

    Temperature protection

The temperature protection threshold can be adjusted from 40°C to 85°C. When the configured limit is reached, the device can disconnect the load and protect the internal contacts from operating under abnormally high-temperature conditions.

    Energy metering

The integrated energy metering function records consumed electrical energy and displays kWh on the screen. The settings include two energy-related parameters:

    Parameter Range
    Energy metering priority setting 0–9999kWh
    Total energy consumption setting 0–9999kWh
    Energy metering function

The supplied specification states energy metering and programmable kWh values. Measurement error is less than 1%. This should not automatically be considered a certified electricity meter intended for billing purposes.

    ON/OFF timer

The device includes a programmable load ON and OFF timer. This allows periodic or delayed load control.

    OFF timer 0.1–9999.9min
    ON timer 0.1–9999.9min

    Automatic reconnection

After a temporary fault has been cleared and suitable electrical parameters are restored, the device can automatically restore power. The recovery / switching delay is adjustable from 1 to 999 seconds.

    Adjustable recovery delay

The delay helps prevent immediate load reconnection as soon as the voltage returns and gives the mains supply time to stabilise.

    Digital display

The colour display simultaneously shows the main electrical system information. Separate fields display the voltage of phases L1, L2 and L3 together with other parameters.

    Displayed value Purpose
    L1 / L2 / L3 voltage Monitoring the voltage of each phase.
    Current A Displays load current.
    Frequency Hz Displays mains frequency.
    Temperature Monitoring internal temperature.
Delay time Indication of switching or recovery delay.
    kWh Displays consumed electrical energy.

    4 status indicators

The front panel uses four LED indicators for quick assessment of device and protection status. Together with the digital display, they make it possible to see locally which phase is active and whether a protection trip has been detected.

    Practical application example

The facility has a three-phase four-wire electrical supply L1, L2, L3 and N, but the critical load is single-phase. L1 is configured as the priority phase. Under normal conditions the load is supplied from L1. If the L1 voltage falls below the configured threshold or disappears completely, the device automatically checks L2 and, if its parameters are suitable, switches the single-phase load to L2. If L2 is also unsuitable, L3 is selected. When L1 is restored, the load can automatically return to the priority phase after the configured delay.
