Digital Voltage Control Relay | 230VAC | DIN Rail | 150-280V Digital Voltage Control Relay | 230V AC | Overvoltage and Undervoltage Protection
Digital single-phase voltage control relay – is a professional protection device designed to protect single-phase electrical loads from mains voltage disturbances. The relay monitors the supply voltage in real time and automatically disconnects the controlled circuit when the voltage exceeds the set high-voltage threshold or drops below the set low-voltage threshold. The device features adjustable overvoltage and undervoltage thresholds, adjustable trip delay, a 3-digit LED display, and an automatic reset function.
Automatic single-phase mains voltage protectionThe device allows the high-voltage threshold to be set from 230V to 280V, the low-voltage threshold from 150V to 210V, and the trip delay from 0.1 to 10 seconds. When the mains voltage moves outside the set limits, the relay disconnects the output after the configured delay time. Once the voltage returns to the safe range, the system automatically restores relay operation.

Function / Block Parameters / Modes Description / Purpose in the System Overvoltage monitoring (U>) Adjustable 230 – 280V Monitors the mains voltage and, if it exceeds the set threshold, disconnects the relay output after the configured delay. Undervoltage monitoring (U<) Adjustable 150 – 210V If the mains voltage drops below the set threshold, the device disconnects the controlled load after the delay time. Trip delay Adjustable 0.1 – 10s Helps prevent unnecessary relay operation caused by short-term mains voltage fluctuations. Automatic reset 5V hysteresis When the voltage returns to the safe range and moves 5V away from the set threshold, the relay automatically restores the output after the configured delay. Display and indication 3-digit display + 3 LED indicators The display shows the measured or configured voltage value, while the LED indicators show U>, U<, and relay output status. How does the controller work?
- Use the „U>“ adjustment knob to set the desired maximum allowable mains voltage.
- Use the „U<“ adjustment knob to set the minimum allowable mains voltage.
- Use the „t“ knob to set the desired trip and reset delay time.
- When adjusting the setting knobs, the selected values are shown on the display. Approximately 2 seconds after releasing the knob, the display returns to showing the actual measured mains voltage.
- If the mains voltage is between the set U> and U< limits, the „OUT“ LED indicator is illuminated and the relay output is active.
Overvoltage protection operationIf the mains voltage exceeds the set U> value, the U> LED indicator lights up. The device waits for the configured „t“ delay time and then switches off the relay and the „OUT“ indicator. When the voltage drops at least 5V below the set U> threshold, the reset delay countdown begins. After the delay has elapsed, the U> indicator turns off, the relay is activated, and the „OUT“ indicator turns on again.
Undervoltage protection operationIf the mains voltage drops below the set U< value, the U< LED indicator lights up. The device waits for the configured „t“ delay time and then switches off the relay and the „OUT“ indicator. When the mains voltage rises at least 5V above the set U< threshold, the reset delay countdown begins. After the delay has elapsed, the U< indicator turns off, the relay is activated, and the „OUT“ indicator turns on.

Disadvantages / Limitations
- For single-phase networks only: the device is designed for voltage monitoring of 230V AC L-N single-phase circuits.
- Limited relay contact load: the output contact is rated for up to 5A / 250V AC resistive load, so an additional contactor must be used to control higher loads.
- Not suitable for humid environments: the device must not be used in damp locations or environments where it may be exposed to moisture.
- Fixed 5V reset hysteresis: the automatic reset threshold is 5V away from the set protection threshold.
What is it suitable for? (Applications)
- Protection of single-phase electrical equipment against excessively high and low mains voltage
- Control and automation panels
- Protection circuits for pumps, compressors, ventilation systems, and other single-phase equipment
- Equipment sensitive to large or prolonged mains voltage fluctuations
- Electrical distribution systems requiring automatic voltage monitoring and reset
What is it not suitable for?
- Phase voltage monitoring in three-phase networks
- Continuous operation in humid environments
- Direct switching of loads above 5A without an additional contactor or other suitable power switching device
Practical example
A device operating in a single-phase electrical circuit needs protection against unstable mains voltage. This digital voltage control relay is installed in the control panel. For example, the U> threshold is set to 260V, the U< threshold to 180V, and the delay time to 2 seconds. As long as the mains voltage remains between 180V and 260V, the relay output remains active. If the voltage rises above 260V or drops below 180V for longer than the configured delay time, the relay disconnects the load control circuit. When the voltage returns to the safe range and reaches the specified 5V reset difference, the relay automatically restores operation after the delay time.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What mains voltage is this relay designed for?The relay is designed for a 230V AC single-phase network. The operating voltage measurement range is from 140V to 290V AC between L and N.
Can the overvoltage threshold be adjusted?Yes. The U> overvoltage protection threshold can be set from 230V to 280V.
Can the undervoltage threshold be adjusted?Yes. The U< undervoltage protection threshold can be set from 150V to 210V.
Can the protection trip time be adjusted?Yes, the delay time can be adjusted from 0.1 to 10 seconds.
Does the relay automatically restore operation after a voltage fault?Yes. When the voltage returns to the configured safe range and moves 5V away from the protection threshold, the device automatically activates the relay output after the configured delay time.
Can a high-power load be connected directly? The relay output contact is rated for up to 5A / 250V AC resistive load. For higher loads, it is recommended to use the relay output to control a contactor or another suitable power switching device.
Important safety note for the installerUse the device according to its intended purpose and installation instructions. Do not use it in a humid environment. Provide a separate switch and circuit breaker in the installation circuit. They must be installed close to the device, in a location easily accessible to the operator, and marked as the means for disconnecting the device.
