Modular photo relay with timer and external sensor | 16 A | 2–150 lx | Finder 11.91
Finder 11.91 is a twilight switch with a built-in digital timer. It switches lighting on at dusk, while the timer can switch it off at night and on again before dawn. The relay is mounted in the panel on a DIN rail (35 mm, 2 modules); light is measured by the external Finder 011.02 sensor (IP54), which is included.
Key point:
A simple photo relay keeps lighting on all night, although after midnight nobody often needs it. Finder 11.91 combines a light sensor and a timer in one device: lighting is on only when it is dark and actually needed, and the battery-backed clock does not lose time during a power failure.Sensitivity

The external 011.02 sensor measures illuminance. When light falls below the set threshold, the relay switches the lighting on after 25 s; when it gets light, it switches off after 50 s. A 3 lx hysteresis and the delays prevent chattering caused by car headlights or a passing cloud.
Finder's patented “light feedback compensation” principle takes into account that light from the controlled luminaires may also reach the sensor (up to 200 lx combined illuminance). This prevents the lighting from “hunting” between on and off because of a less than ideal sensor position.
The timer offers three operating options: light only; light with a switch-off time (e.g. no lighting after 22:00); light with switch-off and switch-on times (e.g. no lighting from 1:00 to 5:00). In manual mode the output can be forced permanently on or off. Everything is set with buttons and shown on the LCD.
Why a timer in a photo relay?
Yard, signage or car park lighting often burns for nothing after midnight. The timer switches it off at a set time and, if needed, on again early in the morning – but only while it is still dark. Summer/winter time changes automatically, and the internal battery keeps time and program for up to 5 years.Technical specifications

- Automatic switch-on at dusk – lighting is on only when it is dark.
- Night-time switch-off by timer – lighting is switched off at a set time and, if needed, on again before dawn.
- Light feedback compensation – fewer false switchings when light from the controlled luminaires reaches the sensor.
- 16 A change-over contact – LED up to 400 W, incandescent up to 2000 W directly.
- Manual ON / OFF – lighting can be switched on or off without reprogramming.
- 5-year battery – time and program survive a power failure, programming is possible without supply.
How does it differ from similar models?
- VEXEN DTWR972 – Also a digital relay with a daily program and a 1CO contact, but with a wider light range and an LED load of only up to 200 W (Finder 11.91 – up to 400 W).
- VEXEN TWR1 – A simpler relay without timer: 1–100 lx, 1NO, 1 module – when switching on at dusk and off at dawn is enough.
- Eti SOU-1 – Photo relay without timer with a wide 1–50,000 lx range – when the threshold may also be in daylight.
- Finder 011.02 – Not a relay but a spare external IP54 sensor – fits Finder 11 series relays when the original sensor is damaged or lost.
Where is it used?
- Yard, path and driveway lighting with night-time switch-off
- Car park and filling station area lighting
- Illuminated signs and shop windows to be switched off after business hours
- Facade and building outline lighting
- Floodlights at industrial sites, warehouses and farms
- Yard and entrance lighting of apartment buildings
- Replacing old photo relays and separate timers with one device
Use by need
For the electrician.
One device instead of a photo relay and a timer: less panel space, fewer connections, sensor already included.For the home or farmstead owner.
The yard is lit in the evening, luminaires are not wasted at night, and the time is not lost after a power cut.For the company or farm manager.
Site and signage lighting is on only during the hours needed – lower electricity costs without manual work.Practical use
If a shop sign and car park floodlights burn all night, Finder 11.91 solves it. Mount the relay in the panel and the 011.02 sensor on the north wall where the floodlights do not light it. Set the threshold to about 10 lx, the switch-off time to 23:00 and the switch-on time to 5:30. In winter the lighting switches on at dusk, goes off at 23:00 and comes on again in the morning until daylight; in summer, when it is already light in the morning, it does not switch on.Pros
- Photo relay and timer in one device
- 16 A change-over contact (1CO)
- Manufacturer-stated loads: LED up to 400 W, incandescent up to 2000 W
- 011.02 sensor (IP54) included, cable up to 50 m
- Automatic summer/winter time, battery up to 5 years
- Light feedback compensation
Cons / limitations
- Takes 2 modules (35 mm) on the DIN rail
- LED load limited to 400 W – for larger LED or floodlight groups use a modular contactor
- Range up to 150 lx – for control by bright daylight choose Eti SOU-1 or VEXEN VSOU-1
- Daily timer program – different times for individual weekdays cannot be set
⚠ Safety and installation notes
- Mount the sensor where daylight reaches it, but not direct light from the controlled luminaires or car headlights.
- Do not point the sensor south into direct sun.
- The relay is intended for a panel (IP20) – only the sensor (IP54) is installed outdoors.
- Sensor cable up to 50 m, e.g. H07RN-F 2 × 1.5 mm²; do not run it together with power cables over long routes.
- When the LED load exceeds 400 W or inrush current is high, the relay must control a contactor coil.
- Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician after disconnecting and verifying the absence of voltage.
Quick selection guide
2–150 lx1CO 16 ALED up to 400 WTimer + batterySuitable when you need to:- switch outdoor lighting on automatically at dusk and off at night;
- replace a photo relay and a timer with one device;
- keep time and program after a power failure.
Check before use:- load type and power (LED up to 400 W, more – via a contactor);
- whether there are 2 free modules in the panel;
- where the sensor will be mounted and that the cable does not exceed 50 m.
Important reminder: the timer works together with the light sensor – during the night-time switch-off the lighting will not come on even in darkness, so choose the times according to the site's safety needs.☝ Elsprendimai.eu recommends:- Modular contactors – when an LED or floodlight group exceeds the relay's capability.
- Finder 011.02 – spare IP54 sensor if the original one is damaged.
- Photo relays and twilight switches – all twilight switches in one place.
FAQ
Is the sensor included?
Yes, the external Finder 011.02 sensor (IP54) is supplied with the relay.How much LED lighting can be connected directly?
The manufacturer states up to 400 W LED at 230 V AC. For a larger load use a modular contactor.Is the timer weekly?
No, the program is daily: a switch-off time or switch-off and switch-on times that repeat every day.What happens after a power failure?
