Modular three-phase electricity meter | CT-connected …/5 A | 1.5(6) A | 3×230/400 V | 1 tariff | pulse output | IP20 | DIN | THORGEON 01004
THORGEON 01004 is a modular three-phase four-wire meter designed to be connected via current transformers (CTs) with a 5 A secondary. Rated measuring current is 1.5 A and maximum 6 A, so the metering limit is set by the chosen CTs, not by the meter itself.
Key point:
When an incomer or feeder is 150, 250 or 400 A, a direct-connected meter will not do. Together with …/5 A current transformers the 01004 records active energy on such lines while taking only 4 DIN modules. It is a solution for internal metering – the manufacturer does not state MID.Connection

BPulses
400 imp/kWhℹBidirectional metering
The manufacturer does not state that the meter records imported and exported energy separately. If energy exported to the grid must be metered separately via CTs, choose a bidirectional model, e.g. the Eastron SDM630MCT-2T with MID.Communication interfaces and integration
Electrical pulse output (400 imp/kWh)
Pulses are passed to a PLC, BMS or data logger; note that pulses relate to the CT secondary side, so the CT ratio must be applied in the system.Local LCD display
Readings are taken at the board; there is no RS485, M-Bus or Wi-Fi interface. How it works
The meter mounts on a DIN rail; phase voltages and neutral are connected directly, while the current circuits go through three current transformers with a 5 A secondary.
The meter measures the CT secondary current (rated 1.5 A, max. 6 A) and records active energy on all three phases.
Actual consumption is obtained by multiplying the LCD reading by the CT ratio in use (e.g. 200/5 A = ×40), unless the manual allows the ratio to be entered into the meter.
Why choose the THORGEON 01004?
It is a compact and economical way to meter high-current three-phase lines: the current limit depends on the CTs, so the same meter fits a 100 A feeder as well as an incomer of several hundred amps.Technical specifications

- CT connection …/5 A – metering on lines above 100 A
- Active energy metering – kWh reading on the LCD
- 400 imp/kWh pulse output – signal to PLC or BMS
- Four-wire scheme – 3 phases and neutral
- Built-in battery – part of the manufacturer's design
- 4-module housing – takes little space in the board
How does it differ from similar models?
THORGEON 01003 Direct connection up to 100 A; the 01004 is for higher currents via CTs. Eastron SDM630MCT-2T Via 1/5 A CTs, 2 tariffs, RS485 Modbus, MID and multifunction measurement; the 01004 is plain kWh metering without MID. Eastron SDM630MCT-ML-1 Via CTs, RS485 Modbus, MID; the 01004 has no digital interface. Eastron SMART X96-1 96×96 mm panel instrument via CTs with Modbus and MID; the 01004 is a modular DIN meter. Where is it used?
- Company incomers 125–400 A
- Production halls and compressor rooms
- High-power tenant feeders in shopping centres
- Boiler rooms and heat substations
- Grain dryers and farm incomers
- Upgrading existing CT schemes instead of induction meters
Use by need
Electricians.
A simple CT meter for high-current lines, 4 DIN modules.Energy managers.
Internal kWh metering of large consumers without an expensive analyser.Automation integrators.
400 imp/kWh signal scaled by the CT ratio.Practical use
If a production hall has a 250 A incomer and you want its monthly consumption, fit three 250/5 A current transformers and a THORGEON 01004 – multiply the LCD reading by 50 (if the ratio is not entered in the meter) to get actual kWh.Pros
- Suits high-current lines via …/5 A CTs
- Compact 4-module housing
- 400 imp/kWh pulse output
- Simple to use
- 24-month manufacturer warranty
Cons / limitations
- No MID – for billing choose Eastron SDM630MCT-2T or SDM630MCT-ML-1
- No RS485 / Wi-Fi interface
- Current transformers must be purchased separately
- The manufacturer does not state whether the CT ratio can be entered – manual scaling may be needed
- Bidirectional metering not stated by the manufacturer
Safety and installation notes
- Installation by a qualified electrician only, with the supply disconnected
- Never open a CT secondary circuit under load – short it first (dangerous voltage)
- Observe CT orientation (P1/P2, S1/S2) and phase correspondence with the voltage circuits
- Protect the voltage circuits with fuses or circuit breakers
- IP20 – install only in a closed enclosure in a dry room
Quick selection guide
Via CT …/5 A1.5(6) A1 tariff, no MID400 imp/kWhA good fit when you need:- Internal metering on lines above 100 A
- A compact CT meter in a DIN board
- A pulse signal to automation
Check before use:- That the CT secondary is 5 A and the accuracy class is suitable
- That MID is not required
- How the CT ratio will be applied to readings
Important reminder: The meter works only with current transformers – it must not be connected directly into the power circuit; it also does not replace the operator's billing meter.FAQ
Can it be connected directly?
No, the 01004 connects only via current transformers with a 5 A secondary.Which CTs should be used?
…/5 A current transformers sized to the line current. Is the meter MID approved?
The manufacturer does not state MID – it is for internal metering. How do I get actual kWh?
If the ratio is not entered, multiply the LCD reading by the CT ratio. How many pulses per kWh?
400 imp/kWh on the secondary side. What is the warranty?
The manufacturer specifies a 24-month warranty.THORGEON 01004 three-phase CT meter
