Photo relay with night economy mode | 2000 W | 2–1000 lx | IP54 | STEINEL NightMatic 5000-3 COM1
STEINEL NightMatic 5000-3 COM1 is a professional-series twilight switch with a built-in light sensor, designed for wall or corner mounting, outdoors and indoors. It switches lighting on at dusk, can switch it off at night according to the settings and, if needed, back on in the morning. The powerful relay and wide 2–1000 lx range allow it to control not only yard lighting but also shop windows, advertising and site lighting. Colour – black or white, technical data identical.
5 yrsManufacturer's warranty – 5 years
The STEINEL professional-series NightMatic 5000-3 comes with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.Key point:
When a photo relay controls not a single luminaire but a group of floodlights, a sign or a shop window, an ordinary 1000 W relay with a threshold of a few lux is no longer enough. NightMatic 5000-3 switches up to 2000 W, controls up to 8 LED luminaires, and the switch-on threshold can be raised to 1000 lx – lighting can come on already at dusk. Night mode means you do not pay for light when nobody needs it.Sensitivity

IP54, −20…+50 °COperating principle
The sensor measures diffuse ambient light, so it reacts to overall brightness rather than to a single light source. When light falls below the set threshold, the relay switches the lighting on. The threshold is set with a knob or with the TEACH function – the relay memorises the current brightness.
Night economy mode switches the lighting off at night, and in the morning you can choose whether the light comes on again (if it is still dark) or stays off. Settings can also be changed with a remote control, without climbing up to the relay on the wall.
Inside are a heavy-duty relay for high switching capacity and a spacious terminal compartment. Several relays can be linked by cable (master / master) so that the whole site switches on at the same time.
When to choose 5000-3 rather than 3000?
NightMatic 3000 Vario suits one or a few luminaires up to 1000 W and 4 LEDs. Choose NightMatic 5000-3 when the load is higher (up to 2000 W, up to 8 LEDs), when a higher switch-on threshold is needed (up to 1000 lx), remote control or a 5-year warranty for the project.Technical specifications

- 2000 W switching capacity – heavy-duty relay for floodlight and sign groups.
- 2–1000 lx range – lighting can switch on anywhere from deep darkness to early twilight.
- Night economy mode – the light switches off at night and optionally on again in the morning.
- Diffuse light measurement – the sensor evaluates overall ambient brightness.
- Remote control – settings can be changed from the ground.
- Cable interconnection – several relays work in sync (master / master).
How does it differ from similar models?
- Night-Matic 2000 – Basic wall-mounted relay: 1000 W, 2–30 lx, no night economy mode, 3-year warranty.
- Night-Matic 3000 – With night mode, but 1000 W, up to 4 LEDs and 0.5–10 lx; no remote control, 3-year warranty.
- VEXEN DTWR972 – Modular digital relay with a daily program and external sensor – mounted in a distribution board on a DIN rail, not on a wall.
- F&F AWZ – Wall-mounted relay with built-in IP65 sensor, 2–1000 lx, but without night economy mode and remote control.
Where is it used?
- Shop window and store lighting
- Illuminated signs and facades
- Company sites and car parks
- Outdoor lighting of warehouses and production buildings
- Apartment block yards and driveways
- Country houses and farms with several floodlights
Use by need
For the electrician.
One relay directly controls up to 2000 W or 8 LED luminaires – often without an extra contactor and distribution board. Settings can be changed with a remote control.For the home or farmstead owner.
Yard floodlights switch on at dusk, off at night and on again in the morning when you leave for work.For the company or shop manager.
The shop window and sign are lit in the evening when people pass by and switch off at night – a lower electricity bill.Practical use
A shop facade has a sign and six 50 W LED floodlights. NightMatic 5000-3 is fixed to the wall next to the sign so that the floodlight beam does not reach the sensor. The threshold is set higher so that the sign comes on already at dusk, and night mode switches it off after business hours. The threshold and modes are later adjusted from the ground with a remote control.Pros
- Switching capacity up to 2000 W, up to 8 LED luminaires
- Wide range 2–1000 lx
- Night economy mode, morning ON / OFF
- Remote control (remotes sold separately)
- Wall or corner mounting, IP54
- 5-year manufacturer's warranty
Cons / limitations
- Remote control and corner bracket are not included
- Number of LEDs limited to 8 pcs – a larger group requires a contactor
- More expensive than simple wall-mounted relays
⚠ Safety and installation notes
- Mount where daylight reaches the sensor but light from the controlled luminaires or car headlights does not.
- The supply cable has three wires: phase, neutral and protective earth – the earth must be connected.
- Bring the cable in through a gland so that IP54 is maintained.
- For LED groups of more than 8 luminaires or with high inrush current, use a modular contactor – the relay controls its coil.
- Before installation, disconnect the supply and verify the absence of voltage.
- Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Quick selection guide
2000 W / up to 8 LED2–1000 lxNight mode, remoteIP54, wall / cornerSuitable when you need to:- control a floodlight group, sign or shop window without a separate distribution board;
- switch lighting off at night and on in the morning;
- change settings from the ground with a remote control.
Check before use:- the number and power of LED luminaires (max. 8 pcs);
- that light from the controlled luminaires does not reach the sensor;
- whether a remote control or corner bracket is needed – they are ordered separately.
Important reminder: The colour (black or white) does not change the technical data – choose according to the facade. The remote control is not included.☝ Elsprendimai.eu recommends:- RC 8 pultas – handheld remote for changing the threshold and night mode from the ground.
- RC Smart pultas – alternative STEINEL remote for the same settings.
- Modular contactors – when the LED or floodlight group exceeds the relay limits.
