Replacement SPD module Type 1+2 | Iimp 7 kA | Imax 50 kA | Uc 275 V | LSP FLP7-275/0
LSP FLP7-275/0 is a replacement Type 1+2 plug-in module for FLP7-275 series bases. When the indicator turns red, pull out the module and insert a new one – no rewiring, the base stays.
Key point:
A spare module cuts downtime to a minute: isolate the SPD backup fuse, pull out the tripped module, insert the new one – protection is back and the rest of the board stays in service.Class

FLP7-275Operating principle
The module plugs into an FLP7-275 series base (1P, 3P or 4P, with or without S contact) without tools – the connections in the base remain untouched.
Inside the module is a high-energy varistor with a thermal disconnector. The surge is diverted through the base terminals to PE or PEN.
When the varistor wears out, the thermal disconnector disconnects it, the window turns red and the S base contact changes over.
What does LSP FLP7-275/0 do for you?
LSP FLP7-275/0 restores protection within a minute: no need to buy a whole base, disconnect wires or shut down the switchboard – only the tripped module is replaced.Technical specifications

- Iimp 7 kA (10/350 µs) – the same as the module of a new FLP7-275 base.
- Imax 50 kA (8/20 µs) – withstands strong switching impulses.
- Thermal disconnector – a worn varistor disconnects safely.
- Status window – green / red on the front of the module.
- Fits all FLP7-275 bases – 1P, 3P, 4P and S versions.
How does it differ from similar models?
- LSP FLP7-275/1 – 1P | Iimp 7 kA | Up ≤ 1.5 kV – Base this module fits.
- LSP FLP7-275/4S – 4P TN-S | Iimp 7 kA | Up ≤ 1.5 kV – Base this module fits.
- LSP FLP7-275/3S – 3P TN-C | Iimp 7 kA | Up ≤ 1.5 kV – Base this module fits.
Where is it used?
- Replacing a tripped FLP7-275 module after a storm
- Spare module at sites without permanent staff
- Scheduled SPD inspection and replacement of worn modules
- Spare stock for switchboard maintenance companies
- Spare-parts kit for panel builders
- Refurbishing SPDs without replacing the base
Selection and installation
- Pick the scheme by network type: TN-C – 3P between L and PEN, TN-S – 4P (4+0), TT – only "3+1" with an N–PE spark gap.
- With an external LPS the value depends on the lightning protection level (LPL): LPL III–IV usually needs 12.5 kA per pole, LPL I–II needs more – we will calculate it.
- Choose 5–8 kA per pole models where there is no LPS and the threat comes through an overhead line.
- Install the SPD at the incomer upstream of the RCD (or after an S-type RCD) so that the discharge current does not pass through the RCD.
- Backup fuse – within the manufacturer limit; if the incoming fuse is larger, give the SPD its own fuse (e.g. 125 A gG).
Use by need
For the site owner.
A spare module in stock – protection is restored the same day.For the electrician.
Replacement without disconnecting wires: only the SPD fuse is switched off.For the maintenance company.
One part number for all FLP7-275 bases – simpler spare stock.Practical application
If after a storm one pole's window on an FLP7-275/4S base is red, switch off the SPD backup fuse, pull out that module, insert an FLP7-275/0 and switch back on – the other modules and wires stay in place.Pros
- Fast restoration of protection
- No need to replace the base or wiring
- Fits all FLP7-275 bases
- Thermal disconnector and indication
Cons / limitations
- Fits FLP7-275 series bases only
- The signalling contact is in the base, not in the module
- Not used on its own without a base
⚡ Safety and installation notes
- Before replacing the module, switch off the SPD backup fuse or switch.
- Make sure the module type and Uc match the base (FLP7-275).
- Insert the module fully – a partly inserted module does not protect.
- After replacement, check that the windows of all poles are green.
☝ From experience- Keep the leads to the SPD and from it to PE as short as possible – total length up to 0.5 m. Every extra metre adds about 1 kV to Up and the protection loses its point.
- Run the PE conductor straight to the main earthing bar, not through other devices' terminals. In a Type 1 circuit use at least 16 mm² Cu.
- Pull out the modules or disconnect the SPD before an insulation resistance test (500–1000 V) – otherwise the tester shows "leakage" and the modules may be damaged.
- Check the indicator after every storm and at least once a year. Keep a spare module on site – replacement takes a minute: isolate only the SPD backup fuse or MCB, the rest of the board can stay in service.
- If the sub-boards are more than 10 m away or feed sensitive electronics, add a separate Type 2 or Type 3 SPD there – the incomer alone is not enough.
☝ Elsprendimai.eu recommends: It is also worth keeping spare fuses for the SPD circuit, and if the base is not yet an S version, consider the FLP7-275/4S with signalling contact.Quick selection guide
Type 1+2 / Class I+II / B+C7 kA≤ 1.5 kVFLP7-275Suitable when you need:
- To replace a tripped FLP7-275 module
- To keep a spare module on site
- To restore protection without shutting down the switchboard
Check before use:
- Base type – FLP7-275
- Which pole has tripped (red window)
- Whether the backup fuse has blown
Important reminder: The module does not replace the complete SPD – it can only be used with an FLP7-275 base.
FAQ
Does it fit the FLP12.5 base?
No, the FLP7-275/0 is intended for FLP7-275 series bases only.Does the whole switchboard need to be switched off for replacement?
No, switching off the SPD backup fuse or switch is enough. How many modules does a 4P base need?
Four, but only those with a red window are replaced.Does the module have a signalling contact?
No, the contact is in the S version base and is actuated by the module status. How do I know the module needs replacing?
The window on the front of the module turns red and the S base contact changes over. Can it be stored for a long time?
Yes, in a dry room; before installation check that the window is green. Not sure which one to choose? See the Type 1+2 SPD selection guide or contact us – we will select it from your board diagram.Documents and sources
