Code: AXMK 5x10-
Aluminium power cable AXMK – 5×10 mm², 0.6/1 kV, XLPE, black, 1 m
AXMK 5×10 mm² aluminium power cableis intended for fixed electrical power supply and distribution lines. The cable consists of5 aluminium conductors, each with a cross-section of 10 mm², XLPE core insulation and a black UV-resistant PVC outer sheath.
The cable can be usedindoors, outdoors, in cable ducts, conduits and underground, provided that the installation location is not subject to high mechanical tensile loads or a high risk of mechanical damage. Rated voltage –0.6/1 kV, and the maximum continuous conductor operating temperature is up to+90 °C.
Main purpose:
The cable is intended for fixed low-voltage power supply and distribution lines – building service connections, distribution boards, agricultural and industrial facilities, outdoor electrical networks and other installations where a 5-core 10 mm² aluminium cable is suitable.Cores

- Conductors:aluminium.
- Number of cores:5.
- Cross-section of one core:10 mm².
- Core insulation:XLPE – cross-linked polyethylene.
- Outer sheath:PVC.
- Sheath colour:black.
- UV resistance:yes.
XLPE core insulation
XLPEinsulation is used in power cables because of its good electrical and thermal properties. This type of insulation allows the conductor to operate continuously at temperatures up to+90 °C.
Aluminium instead of copper:
An aluminium conductor is lighter and generally more economical than a copper conductor intended for the same purpose, but its electrical conductivity is lower. Therefore, the cable cross-section must be selected according to load, line length, voltage drop, installation conditions and the protective device.Where can it be installed?
- In dry indoor areas.
- In damp and wet areas, when installed in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Outdoors.
- In cable ducts and trays.
- In installation conduits.
- Underground.
Important regarding mechanical stress:
AXMK cable is not intended for locations where high mechanical tensile loads or a high risk of mechanical damage are expected during operation. Suitable additional mechanical protection must be provided in such locations.Technical specifications

For a house or outbuilding:may be used for a service connection or a separate power supply line if the 5×10 mm² aluminium cross-section complies with the project calculations.
For electricians:intended for fixed low-voltage cable routes where a 5-core 0.6/1 kV aluminium power cable is required.
For industrial applications:may be used for power distribution between switchboards, equipment zones or other electrical distribution points.
For designers:cable selection must take into account the permissible continuous current, voltage drop, short-circuit conditions, protective-device parameters, route length, ambient temperature and installation method.
Installation recommendations
- Select the cable cross-section by calculation.
- Plan the cable route.
- Observe the minimum bending radius.
- Do not install the cable at excessively low temperatureswithout measures permitted by the manufacturer.
- Use terminals and lugs suitable for aluminium conductors.
- Observe the tightening torque specified by the manufacturer of the connecting equipment.
- After installation, carry out the required electrical measurements.
Important regarding aluminium connections:
Aluminium conductors must only be connected using terminals, joints and cable lugs intended for aluminium or Al/Cu connections. An unsuitable connection can increase contact resistance, cause overheating and lead to connection failure.Advantages
- 5 × 10 mm² aluminium conductors.
- 0.6/1 kV rated voltage.
- XLPE core insulation.
- Conductor operating temperature up to +90 °C.
- Black UV-resistant sheath.
- Suitable for indoor, outdoor and underground installation.
Limitations
- Aluminium has lower electrical conductivity than copper.
- Terminals and lugs suitable for aluminium conductors are required.
- Not intended for flexible or frequently moved connections.
- Not intended for high mechanical tensile loads.
- The cross-section must be selected by calculation.
Quick selection guide
Choose AXMK 5×10 mm² cablewhen the project requires a 5-core 0.6/1 kV aluminium power cable for a fixed electrical distribution line and electrical calculations confirm that a 10 mm² aluminium conductor cross-section is sufficient.
FAQ – frequently asked questions
What does 5×10 mm² mean?
The cable contains5 cores, and the nominal cross-section of each core is10 mm².Can the cable be installed outdoors?
Yes. The black outer sheath is resistant to UV radiation. Can the cable be installed underground?
Yes, provided the applicable requirements for underground cable routes and mechanical protection are observed. How many amps can a 5×10 mm² cable carry?
There is no single universal current rating. The permissible continuous current depends on the installation method, ambient temperature, cable grouping, route conditions and other factors. Can this cable be used as a flexible equipment supply cable?
No. AXMK is a power cable intended for fixed installation.5×10 mm² aluminium conductors, XLPE insulation and 0.6/1 kV rated voltage
AXMK 5×10 mm² is a five-core aluminium power cable intended for fixed low-voltage power supply and distribution lines. The XLPE core insulation is designed for a continuous conductor operating temperature of up to +90 °C.
The black UV-resistant PVC sheath allows the cable to be used in indoor and outdoor installations, cable ducts, conduits and underground routes.

while multi-core wires are flexible wires.Wires usually have a single conductor covered with an insulating layer.
Cables have several insulated wires, covered with a common sheath.
Conductor properties of wires:
The resistance of copper conductors is lower (0.017Ω) than that of aluminum (0.028Ω),
but copper has better conductivity.
Copper has better electrical and thermal conductivity than aluminum.
Copper wires are more flexible, more resistant to corrosion, and more durable.
Aluminum wires quickly oxidize upon contact with air, forming a film that weakens the contact.
Copper wires carry higher currents than aluminum wires.
Copper conductors are denser than aluminum. Therefore, copper wire is heavier. The cross-sectional area of wires is chosen according to the power of specific equipment,
for example: for a 1kW load, a 1.57 mm² cross-sectional area of the conductor is required.
For aluminum wires: 5A per 1mm², and for copper wires: 8A per 1mm².This product is marked with the CE label, which confirms that it complies with all applicable European Union directives and regulations.
