  • Cable gland with nut and seal | PG11 | for cable Ø5–10 mm | grey | IP67 | PG-11

    Code: PG-11

Grey polyamide cable gland with a PG11 thread and a compression nut. It seals one round cable with an outer diameter of 5–10 mm – 3×1.5–3×2.5 mm² installation cables (a guide only – the outer diameter decides). Protection IP67 (EN 60529), operating temperature −40…+85 °C.

  • Cable gland with nut and seal | PG11 | for cable Ø5–10 mm | grey | IP67 | PG-11

PG-11 is a grey PG11 cable gland made of polyamide. It is screwed into a threaded PG11 opening or inserted into a plain Ø 18.6 mm hole and secured from inside with a lock nut. When the nut is tightened, the seal wraps around the cable sheath and closes the gap between cable and enclosure.

    Key point:
PG11 is the workhorse size for single-phase installation cables feeding sockets, boilers, heaters and small equipment. The wide Ø5–10 mm range lets the same gland take both a thinner 3×1.5 mm² and a thicker 3×2.5 mm² cable, as long as the outer diameter fits. The grey colour matches grey plastic junction boxes and small panels, so the entry does not stand out.

    How it works

Installation. With the power off, prepare a PG11 threaded or Ø 18.6 mm opening in the enclosure, screw in and tighten the gland, then pass the cable through the loosened nut.

Operation. Turning the nut compresses the seal around the cable – it presses evenly onto the Ø5–10 mm sheath and also holds the cable against pull-out.

Result. A tight IP67 entry: dust stays out, and temporary immersion (EN 60529 test – up to 1 m depth, 30 min) does not break the seal.

    What makes PG-11 useful?
Fewer sizes in stock: the Ø5–10 mm range covers most single-phase 3×1.5–3×2.5 mm² cables, and the 18.6 mm thread outer diameter matches standard PG11 openings in boxes and small panels.

    Main functions

    • IP67 sealing – protection against dust and temporary immersion.
    • Cable retention – the tightened nut reduces pull on the terminals.
    • PG11 thread – fits standard PG11 openings, thread outer diameter 18.6 mm.
    • Range Ø5–10 mm – 3×1.5–3×2.5 mm² installation cables (a guide only – the outer diameter decides).
    • Polyamide body – does not corrode, non-conductive, works at −40…+85 °C.
    • Grey colour – does not stand out on grey boxes and small panels.

    Where is it used?

    • Outdoor and basement junction boxes with single-phase cables
    • Connection points of electric heaters, boilers and water heaters
    • Wiring in greenhouses, garages and farm buildings
    • Outdoor and damp-room installations where IP67 is required
    • Equipment housings where the cable enters through the wall
    • Repairs where an old, cracked cable entry is replaced
    • Grey plastic junction boxes and small panels

    Use by need

    For the installing electrician.
One PG11 size covers both 3×1.5 and 3×2.5 mm² cables – less risk of running short of the right gland on site.
    For the designer.
In the specification it is enough to state PG11, cable Ø5–10 mm and IP67 – the parameters are clear, and the IP68 alternative 00834 (PG11, Ø5–10 mm) has the same thread.
    For the facility manager.
A grey entry on a grey box looks tidy, and IP67 reduces the risk of moisture-related faults in basements and outdoors.

    Practical use

If you are mounting a surface junction box in a garage fed by a 3×2.5 mm² socket cable and a 3×1.5 mm² lighting cable, the same PG11 gland will serve both entries – provided both outer diameters are within 5–10 mm. Check this with a caliper before drilling the openings.

    Pros

    • Defined range Ø5–10 mm for one PG11 size
    • IP67 according to EN 60529
    • Operating temperature −40…+85 °C – suitable for unheated rooms and outdoor equipment
    • Polyamide – rust-free and non-conductive
    • The tightened nut both seals and holds the cable
    • Grey colour – the entry does not stand out on grey housings

    Cons / limitations

    • IP67, not IP68 – for permanent immersion choose IP68 00834 (PG11, Ø5–10 mm) or ES-PG11.
    • Limited range: for a cable thinner than 5 mm choose PG-09 / PG-09B (PG9, Ø4–8 mm); for one thicker than 10 mm – PG-13.5B (PG13.5, Ø6–12 mm).
    • One gland – one round cable; not for flat cables or several wires.
    • Not a fire barrier – it does not replace fire-rated cable penetrations.

    Safety and installation notes

    • Work in a panel or box only with the power disconnected and the absence of voltage verified.
    • After drilling, remove all swarf from the enclosure – it can cause a short circuit.
    • Drill the hole to the thread outer diameter of 18.6 mm – in an oversized hole the seal is not guaranteed.
    • Tighten the nut until the cable no longer moves in the seal; overtightening can damage the plastic thread.
    • Route the cable from below or with a drip loop so water does not run along it to the gland.

    Quick selection guide

    PG11 thread (Ø 18.6 mm)
    Cable Ø5–10 mm
    IP67, −40…+85 °C
    Grey, polyamide
    Suitable when you need:
    • to bring in 3×1.5 and 3×2.5 mm² cables with one size (Ø5–10 mm)
    • for the entry to match a grey box or panel
    • to protect the entry against rain, dust and splashes
    Check before use:
    • The cable outer diameter with a caliper – it must be 5–10 mm.
    • The opening type: threaded PG11 or plain Ø 18.6 mm hole (then a lock nut is needed).
    • Whether the entry will be in direct sunlight – UV resistance is not stated in our data.
Important reminder: The gland seals and holds one cable, but it is not a fire barrier and does not replace an IP68 gland where the entry is permanently under water.

    FAQ

What cable size does PG-11 fit?
A cable with an outer diameter of 5–10 mm – measure the sheath, not the conductor cross-section in mm².
Is PG11 suitable for a 5×1.5 mm² cable?
Only if its outer diameter does not exceed 10 mm; five-core cables are usually thicker – then choose PG-13.5B.
Is PG-11 suitable for permanent operation under water?
No – IP67 is for temporary immersion; for permanent immersion choose IP68 00834 (PG11, Ø5–10 mm).
What opening does a PG11 gland need?
A threaded PG11 opening or a plain hole matching the 18.6 mm thread outer diameter, with a lock nut on the inside.
How does PG-11 differ from PG-11B?
Only in colour: PG-11 is grey, PG-11B is black; thread, range, IP67 and operating temperature are the same.
Can two wires be passed through one gland?
No – the seal only closes around one round cable; use a separate gland for each cable.
