    Code: 65593

    Wall-mounted twilight switch with built-in sensor: 25 A, 220–240 V AC, adjustable threshold 10–100 lx, IP44.

  • Twilight switch with built-in sensor | 25 A | 10–100 lx | IP44 | 65593

    65593 is a wall-mounted twilight switch with a built-in light sensor that switches lighting on at dusk and off at dawn. What sets it apart is its 25 A switching current – the highest among our wall-mounted twilight switches. The threshold can be set within 10–100 lx, the housing is IP44.

    Key point:
    When several luminaires or a larger incandescent or halogen load must be controlled at once, a 10 A relay is no longer enough. With its 25 A contact, 65593 in most cases lets you do without an additional device – but for LED groups with high inrush current we still recommend a contactor.

    Operating principle

    The built-in sensor continuously measures ambient light. When the light level drops below the set threshold, the relay switches the load on; when it rises again, it switches the load off.

    The threshold can be set within 10–100 lx: switch-on occurs at 10–50 lx, switch-off at 50–100 lx. The difference between ON and OFF (hysteresis) prevents the relay from chattering at dusk.

    Why does 25 A matter?
    Most wall-mounted twilight switches have a 6–16 A contact. 25 A allows a larger resistive load – several incandescent or halogen floodlights – to be switched directly. LED drivers draw several to over ten times higher current for a moment at switch-on, so for larger LED groups the relay must control a modular contactor coil.

    Main functions

    • 25 A contact – the highest current among wall-mounted twilight switches in our range.
    • Adjustable threshold – 10–100 lx, you choose when the lighting switches on.
    • Automatic switch-on at dusk – lighting is on only during the dark hours.
    • Hysteresis – ON and OFF thresholds differ, so the relay does not chatter at dusk.
    • Built-in sensor – no distribution board or separate sensor needed.

    How does it differ from similar models?

    • ES-G02 – 10 A and a wider 10–250 lx threshold – when the load is small and lighting must switch on earlier.
    • ES-G03 – 10 A, IP65 and fixed thresholds (~10 / ~40 lx) – for exposed outdoor locations when no settings are needed.
    • Promfactor FRS21 – Also 25 A, but a modular relay for DIN rail mounting in a distribution board with an external sensor, 2–100 lx.
    • HOROZ 0890010001 – Simpler wall-mounted relay: 6 A, 5–15 lx, IP44 – for one low-power luminaire.

    Where is it used?

    • Yard, driveway and path lighting
    • Facade and entrance lighting under a canopy
    • Lighting of farm buildings, garages and warehouses
    • Floodlight groups with incandescent or halogen lamps
    • Car park luminaires
    • Replacing timers and manual switches

    Use by need

    For the electrician.
    One wall-mounted relay for a larger load – no distribution board and no separate sensor cable.
    For the home or farmstead owner.
    Several yard luminaires switch on by themselves at dusk, no switch or timer needed.
    For the company or farm manager.
    Site lighting controlled by real light – lower costs and less manual work.

    Practical use

    If several halogen floodlights hang in a farm yard and a 10 A relay is too weak for them, 65593 solves this. Mount the relay on a wall under a canopy, point the sensor so the floodlights do not illuminate it, and set the threshold to about 10–20 lx. If you later replace the floodlights with LED ones, add a modular contactor to the relay.

    Pros

    • 25 A switching current – the highest among wall-mounted relays
    • Adjustable threshold 10–100 lx
    • Built-in sensor – no distribution board needed
    • Hysteresis prevents chattering
    • Supply 220–240 V AC

    Cons / limitations

    • IP44 – splash protection only; in exposed locations mount under a canopy or choose an IP65 relay (ES-G03)
    • For LED groups with high inrush current a modular contactor is recommended even with a 25 A contact
    • No timer for night-time switch-off

    ⚠ Safety and installation notes

    • Mount the sensor so that the controlled luminaires do not illuminate it – otherwise the relay will start switching itself off.
    • Avoid places where the sensor is lit by car headlights or street lights.
    • Mount the IP44 housing under a canopy or eave with the cable entry facing down and tighten the gland firmly.
    • For a 25 A load, select a cable of adequate cross-section and a matching circuit breaker – the relay does not replace protective devices.
    • For LED luminaire groups with high inrush current, the relay must control a contactor coil, not the load directly.
    • Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician after disconnecting and verifying the absence of voltage.

    Quick selection guide

    25 A
    10–100 lx
    220–240 V AC
    IP44
    Suitable when you need to:
    • to control a larger load without a board-mounted relay;
    • to switch yard or building lighting on automatically at dusk;
    • to set the switch-on threshold to suit the site.
    Check before use:
    • load type and inrush current (LED – via a contactor);
    • cable cross-section and protection for a 25 A load;
    • whether the mounting location is protected from rain (IP44).
    Important reminder: a twilight switch controls lighting by light level, but it does not replace protective devices and does not switch lighting off in the middle of the night – that requires a relay with a timer.

    FAQ

    Is 25 A enough for LED floodlights?
    A few small LED luminaires can be connected directly, but for larger LED groups use a modular contactor because of inrush current.
    What threshold should be set for yard lighting?
    The lower part of the range – about 10–20 lx – is usually enough.
    Can the relay be mounted in an exposed outdoor location?
    The housing is IP44 – ideally under a canopy or eave. For exposed locations choose an IP65 relay, e.g. ES-G03.
    Why does the light switch on and off?
    Most often the luminaire itself illuminates the sensor. Move the relay or point the sensor in another direction.
    How does this relay differ from a modular 25 A relay?
    The sensor is built into the housing and the relay is mounted on a wall. The modular Promfactor FRS21 is installed in a distribution board, with the sensor mounted separately outdoors.
