Dosimeter-radiometer with temperature sensor | 0…65000 μR/h | −40…+70 °C | 1-Wire | for D105 pulse analyzer | smart-MAIC | DR-20
The DR-20 is a dosimeter-radiometer with a built-in temperature sensor, designed for continuous radiation background monitoring via the smart-MAIC D105 pulse analyzer. According to the manufacturer, it measures gamma background level, accumulated dose and ambient temperature in real time.
Key point:
A handheld dosimeter shows the situation only at the moment you measure. The DR-20 measures continuously, and the D105 sends the data, refreshed every 10 s, to the cloud – creating a continuous background history and allowing a notification when the level rises. It connects to the 1-Wire input and is powered from the D105, so no additional power supply is needed.Range

1-Wire (not RS485)Connection to D105 and integration
- 1-Wire input (terminal 4) – The yellow wire (1-Wire) connects to D105 terminal 4. The DR-20 occupies the entire 1-Wire input – it cannot be combined with DS18b20, DHT22 or D280.
- Power (terminals 6 and 1) – Red wire – terminal 6 (+5 V DC from the D105), white – terminal 1 (GND). The green wire (TX UART) is not used with the D105 – it is intended for third-party devices (UART 9600 baud, 5 V).
- Configuration and data – In the D105 “Counter config” settings select the radiation sensor, wait 15 s and press “Refresh” in the “Current Data” window. T1 – temperature, T2 – μR/h, T3 – pulses per minute.
How it works
The device is fixed at the monitored location – indoors, under a canopy or in an outdoor enclosure – and connected to the D105 with three wires (5 V, GND, 1-Wire). The green UART wire is insulated.
The DR-20 registers ionising radiation particles, counts them per minute, converts the count into exposure dose rate (μR/h) and measures temperature at the same time. Data is refreshed every 10 s.
In the smart-MAIC cloud you see radiation background and temperature curves and history, and can set a notification or D105 relay action when the background exceeds your threshold. Data is also available via API and MQTT.
Why choose the DR-20?
It turns the D105 into a permanent radiation background monitoring station: no separate power supply, with cloud history and notifications. It is a simple way to have your own objective background data instead of occasional measurements.Technical specifications

- Continuous gamma background measurement – a continuous history, not occasional readings.
- Wide range 0…65000 μR/h – from natural background to high levels.
- Temperature in the same device – an extra parameter without a separate sensor.
- Refresh every 10 s – fast response to changes.
- Notifications and relay – an alert or equipment switching when the threshold is exceeded.
- UART output – can be connected to third-party controllers without a D105.
How does it differ from similar products?
- DS18b20 – Measures temperature only, but with ±0.5 °C accuracy and up to 5 pcs on one input; in the DR-20 temperature is an extra parameter alongside radiation.
- D280 – Also connects to the 1-Wire input and measures temperature, humidity and pressure; it does not measure radiation. One D105 takes either the D280 or the DR-20.
- D105 Solar – Measures solar irradiance (W/m²) via RS485 – this is light energy, not ionising radiation.
Where is it used?
- Municipal and community environmental monitoring
- Civil protection and emergency preparedness facilities
- School and university physics laboratories
- Scrap metal yards (indicative background monitoring)
- Private houses and country homes
- Weather stations together with other D105 sensors
Use by need
For municipalities and communities.
Continuous, publicly available background data – objective information for residents without manual measurements. For physics teachers.
Real radiation background measurements in the cloud – material for lessons on natural background and its variation. For civil protection specialists.
A notification if the background suddenly rises – a faster decision on whether further checks are needed.Practical use
If you want continuous radiation background data at your site, mount the DR-20 in an outdoor enclosure and connect it to the D105 1-Wire input. Then set a notification in the cloud, for example when the background exceeds 50 μR/h, and you will be alerted if the level rises unexpectedly.Pros
- Continuous gamma background monitoring with history
- Wide range 0…65000 μR/h
- Temperature in the same device
- 5 V power from the D105, no extra unit
- Refresh every 10 s
- Additional UART output for other devices
Cons / limitations
- Occupies the entire D105 1-Wire input – cannot be combined with DS18b20, DHT22 or D280.
- The manufacturer does not state measurement error – this is a monitoring device, not a metrological instrument.
- Designed for gamma background; radon concentration requires a dedicated radon monitor.
- Not compatible with RS485 – connects only via 1-Wire or UART.
Safety and installation notes
- Connect the sensor only with the D105 power switched off.
- Insulate the green TX UART wire – it is not used with the D105.
- Follow the wire colours: red – terminal 6, white – 1, yellow – 4.
- Outdoors, mount in a protective enclosure – operating humidity up to 95 % RH, no direct water.
- Do not move the device often – the history is comparable only at the same location.
Quick selection guide
0…65000 μR/h−40…+70 °C1-Wire, every 10 s5 V from the D105Suitable when you need:- continuous radiation background monitoring
- a notification when the background rises
- background and temperature history in the cloud
Check before use:- that the D105 1-Wire input is free
- that the mounting point is protected from direct water
- that you do not need a metrologically approved instrument
Important reminder: The DR-20 works with the D105 via 1-Wire (not RS485) and is not intended for occupational exposure records – where regulations require personal dosimetry, use certified instruments.FAQ
