Universal pulse analyser with an external Wi-Fi antenna – a 3 m remote antenna can be connected and taken out of a metal cabinet. Same inputs as the D105-10: 2 pulse, 1-Wire, 0.1–18 V DC, RS485 and a relay. Choose it for metal cabinets, basements and weak Wi-Fi locations.

  • Universal pulse analyser | 2 pulse inputs | 1-Wire | 0.1–18 V DC | RS485 | external Wi-Fi antenna | 100–240 V AC | DIN | smart-MAIC | D105-12

The smart-MAIC D105-12 is the same universal pulse analyser as the D105-10, but with an external Wi-Fi antenna. A remote antenna with a 3 m cable can be connected and taken out of a metal cabinet or basement to where the Wi-Fi signal is better.

    Key point:
Choose the D105-12 when the device goes into a metal cabinet, basement, boiler room or far from the router. A metal enclosure acts as a shield, so a built-in antenna often connects unreliably in such places. An external antenna – or, if needed, a remote one – moves the reception point outside the cabinet, often without an extra repeater.

    Inputs, connectivity and integration

    • Pulse inputs (2) – For water, gas, heat, fuel or electricity meters with a pulse output, e.g. a dry contact or the NO5W magnetic sensor. The pulse value of the meter is set in the cloud.
    • 1-Wire input – Up to 5 DS18b20 temperature sensors on one line OR one DHT22 / D280 (temperature, humidity, pressure). Sensors connect directly to the D105 terminals.
    • Analogue input 0.1–18 V DC – For pressure (G1/4), level (mH2O), light, pH, TDS and other sensors with a voltage output. Sensors powered from 12–24 V DC need a separate power supply, and their output must not exceed 18 V.
    • RS485 (input / output mode) – For Modbus sensors CO2-5000, T4W, T5W, 4in1, D105 Solar or other equipment, e.g. reading inverter data. In the Extended version the D105 can act as a Modbus Server and provide data to a SCADA system or controller.
    • External Wi-Fi antenna – 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi through an external antenna. In a metal cabinet, connect the remote Wi-Fi antenna (3 m cable, magnetic base) and mount it outside the cabinet.
    • Cloud, MQTT, API – Data goes to the free smart-MAIC cloud and via MQTT and API (Standard – every 60 s, Extended – every 5 s). Where there is no Wi-Fi, use the 4G LTE Wi-Fi USB modem.
    • Relay (< 50 W) – For remote control of equipment: a small load directly or a contactor coil.

    How it works

Installation: the D105-12 mounts on a DIN rail (2 modules) and is powered from 100–240 V AC or 5 V DC. In a metal cabinet, the remote antenna is led out through a cable gland and fixed to the outside of the cabinet with its magnetic base, facing the router.

Operation: pulses are counted continuously, readings refresh every 5 s and data is logged every 1 min. If the internet drops, the D105 stores data for up to 30 days, so there are no gaps in the records.

Result: in the cloud you see consumption charts, reports and sensor values, control the relay remotely and pass data via MQTT or API to Home Assistant, a BMS or your own system.

    Why choose the D105-12?
It lets you install metering where it is actually needed – in a metal incoming-supply cabinet, in the basement next to the water inlet or in a boiler room – without losing the Wi-Fi link. All D105 inputs are the same as on the D105-10; only the antenna and connectivity options differ.

    • Relay < 50 W – remote control of a pump, valve or other equipment via a contactor
    • Cloud, MQTT, API – data to the smart-MAIC cloud, Home Assistant, a BMS or SCADA

How does it differ from similar products?

    • D105-10 – Same inputs and functions, but with a built-in antenna – suits a plastic enclosure with good signal; no external antenna can be connected.
    • Remote Wi-Fi antenna – Accessory for the D105-12: 3 m cable, 2 dB, magnetic base – takes the antenna out of a metal cabinet.
    • 4G LTE Wi-Fi USB modem – When there is no Wi-Fi on site at all: the modem with a SIM card creates a Wi-Fi network for up to 5 smart-MAIC devices.

    Where is it used?

    • Metal incoming-supply and distribution cabinets
    • Basements next to water and gas inlets
    • Boiler rooms and heat substations
    • Plant rooms and stairwell cabinets in apartment blocks
    • Industrial halls and warehouses with metal structures
    • Borehole pump houses and tank rooms
    • Sites where the router is far from the cabinet

    Use by need

    For the building manager.
Data from shared water and heat meters in the basement or plant room arrives automatically, even when the cabinets are metal.
    For the plant energy engineer.
Water, gas or compressed-air consumption in a production-hall cabinet is visible in the cloud and via MQTT – without running a network cable to the cabinet.
    For the automation integrator.
One model fits almost any cabinet: if the signal is weak, you add the remote antenna instead of looking for a different solution.

    Practical use

If the water inlet and meter are in the basement and the D105 has to go into a metal cabinet where a phone barely sees the Wi-Fi network, choose the D105-12 with the remote antenna: the antenna is led out through a cable gland onto the top of the cabinet and held by its magnet. If the signal is weak even next to the cabinet, the 3 m cable allows the antenna to be raised closer to the ceiling or a stairwell opening.

    Pros

    • External antenna – a more stable link in a metal cabinet
    • A 3 m remote antenna with magnetic base can be connected
    • All D105 inputs: 2 pulse, 1-Wire, 0.1–18 V DC, RS485 and a relay
    • 2 DIN modules, powered from 100–240 V AC or 5 V DC
    • Stores data for up to 30 days if the internet drops
    • Operating temperature −40…+60 °C – suits unheated basements and plant rooms

    Cons / limitations

    • The remote antenna is not included – sold separately
    • The antenna needs space and a cable entry in the cabinet – installation takes slightly longer than with the D105-10
    • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only; if there is no Wi-Fi on site, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi USB modem is needed
    • Operating time, heat meter and Modbus Server modes and 5 s MQTT / API are available in the Extended version only

    Safety and installation notes

    • Installation and 230 V connection must be done by a qualified electrician with the power off
    • Do not exceed 18 V DC on the analogue input
    • Use a separate power supply for sensors rated 12–24 V DC (not included)
    • Keep the relay load below 50 W; switch higher power through a contactor
    • Route the antenna cable through a cable gland, do not pinch it in the door or bend it sharply
    • Keep the antenna and signal wires away from power cables and contactors

    Quick selection guide

    External Wi-Fi antenna
    3 m remote antenna
    0.1–18 V DC
    2 DIN modules
    Suitable when you need:
    • installation in a metal cabinet or basement
    • a stable link where the Wi-Fi signal is weak
    • the option to place the antenna up to 3 m from the device
    Check before use:
    • where the antenna will go and whether the cabinet has a free cable entry
    • the Wi-Fi signal at the antenna position, not inside the cabinet
    • meter pulse outputs and sensor signals (≤ 18 V DC)
Important reminder: The remote Wi-Fi antenna is not included with the D105-12. The antenna only improves the link to an existing Wi-Fi network – if there is no network, you will need a 4G LTE Wi-Fi USB modem or a repeater.
