    Code: 4G LTE WiFi

The 4G LTE Wi-Fi USB modem creates a Wi-Fi network over mobile data for up to 5 smart-MAIC devices. It supports LTE B1/B3/B5, uses a Micro SIM and is powered from USB 5 V / 1 A. The SIM card and power source are not included.

  • 4G LTE Wi-Fi USB modem | LTE B1/B3/B5 | Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz | up to 5 smart-MAIC devices | Micro SIM | USB 5 V | smart-MAIC

The 4G LTE Wi-Fi USB modem creates a Wi-Fi network over mobile data where there is no wired internet. It takes a Micro SIM card, is powered from USB 5 V / 1 A, and up to 5 smart-MAIC devices (D105, D103) can join its Wi-Fi network.

    Key point:
The modem lets you run a smart-MAIC system at a country house, farm, construction site or borehole pump house with no router. The devices connect to it like to an ordinary 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, and the data travels to the cloud over 4G. Check your operator's coverage before buying – the modem supports LTE bands B1, B3 and B5.

    Connection and compatibility

    • SIM card – Micro SIM (not included). The PIN request must be disabled, mobile internet activated and the account must have enough credit or a data plan.
    • Power supply – USB 5 V / 1 A – a separate USB power source is required (not included): an adapter or a 5 V power supply with a USB port.
    • Wi-Fi network – The modem creates a 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n network; smart-MAIC devices connect to it as to an ordinary router.
    • Connected devices – Up to 5 smart-MAIC devices at a time: D105-10, D105-12, D103 energy analysers.
    • Mobile network – 4G / LTE-FDD B1 / B3 / B5 (2100 / 1800 / 850 MHz), 3G / WCDMA B1 (2100 MHz).

    How it works

Installation: insert a Micro SIM card without a PIN, plug the modem into a USB 5 V / 1 A supply and place it where the mobile signal is strong and the smart-MAIC devices are within Wi-Fi range.

Operation: the modem connects to the operator's 4G or 3G network and shares the internet over Wi-Fi. An LED indicator shows the connection status.

Result: D105 and D103 data reaches the smart-MAIC cloud, MQTT or API exactly as over an ordinary Wi-Fi network.

Why use the 4G LTE Wi-Fi modem?
One small modem with one SIM card serves up to 5 smart-MAIC devices – no internet cable to run and no separate router to buy. The metering system also stays independent of the client's or tenant's Wi-Fi network.

    Key functions

    • 4G / LTE connection – internet without a wired network
    • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network – smart-MAIC devices connect as to a router
    • Up to 5 devices – one SIM card for the whole site
    • USB 5 V power – an ordinary USB adapter will do
    • LED indicator – connection status at a glance

How does it differ from similar products?

    • PQ-4G – An industrial Modbus TCP / RTU → 4G module with RJ45 and an external antenna; intended for Modbus devices, not as a Wi-Fi network for smart-MAIC devices.
    • MQ21-4G – A 4G module for the MQ21 power quality analyser only; not used with the D105 or D103.
    • Remote Wi-Fi antenna – Only improves the link to an existing Wi-Fi network; the modem creates the network itself over mobile data.

    Where is it used?

    • Country houses and allotments without wired internet
    • Farms and greenhouses – D105 with temperature, humidity and soil sensors
    • Water boreholes and pump stations
    • Construction sites and temporary electrical cabinets
    • Rental properties where the tenant's Wi-Fi should not be used
    • Commercial premises where joining the company network is not allowed
    • Remote technical sites and containers

    Use by need

    For the country-house owner.
Water, temperature and electricity data is visible on the phone, even though there is no internet at the property.
    For the farmer.
Greenhouse or barn sensor data reaches the cloud through a single SIM card.
    For the rental property manager.
smart-MAIC devices run on their own connection and do not depend on the tenant's router or password changes.

    Practical use

If a borehole pump house has a D105 with pressure and level sensors but no internet, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi USB modem with a data SIM card and a USB 5 V supply is installed next to the cabinet. The D105 joins the modem's Wi-Fi network, and pressure and level data shows up in the cloud. A D103 can also be connected to the same modem to monitor the pump's electricity use.

    Pros

    • Internet for smart-MAIC devices without a wired network
    • Up to 5 devices on one SIM card
    • Powered from an ordinary USB 5 V / 1 A source
    • Compact USB form factor
    • LED indicator makes troubleshooting easier

    Cons / limitations

    • SIM card and USB power source are not included
    • Supported LTE bands are B1, B3, B5; 800 MHz (B20) and 2600 MHz (B7) are not supported – check coverage in rural areas
    • An active mobile data plan is required
    • Cannot connect Modbus devices directly – the PQ-4G is intended for that

    Safety and installation notes

    • Power the modem from a 5 V / 1 A USB source
    • Do not place the modem inside a closed metal cabinet – both 4G and Wi-Fi signals weaken there
    • Protect it from moisture and condensation; outdoors use it only in a protective enclosure
    • Disable the PIN request before inserting the SIM card (e.g. in a phone)
    • Do not place the modem on heat-generating equipment or in direct sunlight

    Quick selection guide

    4G LTE B1/B3/B5
    Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz
